East Oxford Central Public School
2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on fostering a school environment where every student feel valued, seen, and empowered, regardless of their background or identity.
We are doing this because we are working to create equitable learning opportunities. Inclusive practices, and empathy driven interactions will ensure that diversity is not only acknowledged but embraced.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Be intentional and embed diversity, inclusion and equity resources, activities, and perspectives throughout the curriculum and daily teaching.
- Use Restorative Practices to support problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Use community resources to build understanding and support daily inclusion practices.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child about what diversity, inclusion and equity activities they are doing in their classroom.
- Try reading or watching movies with diverse characters at home with your child, then discuss the themes of empathy, understanding and inclusion.
- Check out this resource https://www.familiescanada.ca/blog/talk-to-your-kids-about-diversity-and-inclusion-and-yes-also-about-race about talking to your children about diversity, inclusion and racism.
