High school is just around the corner. Here are some important resources to support your transition from elementary school to secondary school.
High School Here I Come - registration closes August 1
Students are strongly urged to attend High School Here I Come. Depending on the circumstances, it may be offered on site or virtually. It's a great opportunity for grade nine students to meet their teachers, touch base with friends, meet new friends, familiarize themselves with their high school, and learn how to open up their locker! On the last day of High School Here I Come, students receive their timetable. Have a close look at this timetable with your child to make sure their courses are equitable each term (e.g., math, English, geography, and science in one term is a lot!). The guidance department is available before the start of school, don't hesitate to get in touch.
High School Math Here I Come - registration closes shortly, Friday June 19th.
College Avenue Secondary School virtual tour
Summer e-Learning Opportunities - registration open until June 15 Course Offerings
There are numerous course offerings for grade 9 students. If your grade eight, soon to be grade nine student wants to get a jump start on their courses this is a great option.
Volunteer Hours for High School form
Very important: Grade eight students may begin accumulating their high school volunteer hours as of June 27th. A requirement of graduation from high school is that students complete 40 community involvement hours. Attached is the form that must be filled in to track those hours. It's recommended that students hand this form in to the high school office yearly (keep a copy for yourself, too!).
